Ott’s Exotic Plants

On this tour we spend time in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. We will start driving to Pennsylvania where we will visit Ott’s Exotic Plants. Here you can find Green houses with beautiful exotics plants.

One of the highlights are a “mountain” full of mum flowers (Chrysanthemums), it was made when a large pile of dirt left from excavating for the greenhouses and parking lot, the owner decided to plant mums, and soon it became a local attraction.

A tunnel was excavated through the pile and staircases were added so that people can get a view from the top.

In one of the green houses, you will find an indoor waterfall with a walkway above it, a fishpond, and large ferns and palm trees.

Bowmans Hill Tower

We will visit the lookout tower, Bowmans Hill Tower. This is a 125 feet tall tower offering magnificent views of the Delaware River and surrounding countryside. We will have to climb 125 steps to reach the top.

The tower was built in 1929-31 by the Washington Crossing Park Commission employees. After the tower’s construction, workers planted 28,300 trees to reforest the hill like people thought it would have been in George Washington’s time.

Washington Crossing Historic Park

We will visit Washington Crossing Historic Park, this park preserves the site where George Washington crossed the Delaware River and turned the tide of the Revolutionary War. In the park you will find a large, nice visitor center where you can view historic exhibits, and browse through a museum shop.

In the park you will also find some restored colonial buildings.

Ferry House Historic Site

This circa-1740 farmhouse is also located in Washington Crossing State Park, but on the New Jersey Side. General Washington and other officers probably used the house at the time of the Christmas night crossing of the Delaware River. The site also includes an 18th-century kitchen garden.

The house will most likely have docents that will explain the history of the house.

We will eat an early dinner at a local restaurant.

Lambertville Halloween Houses

We will visit the city of Lambertville in New Jersey, declared one of Forbes's 15 prettiest towns in America. This town is very unique especially during Halloween. You will find rows of beautiful, decorated houses for Halloween.

The most famous decorated house, which is called “The Halloween House", is created by an art teacher, Dolores Dragan. She is now regular spook celebrity in the town.

Below you will find some other houses that you will see in Lambertville.

We will drive back to NYC.
