As with many other attractions of Brandy wine Valley in Pennsylvania, Longwood Gardens was once owned by one of the du Pont family, Pierre S. du Pont, he was the one that began the tradition of opening the estate to visitors. He left most of his estate to the preservation and maintenance of these gardens and the foundations have continued to open the gardens to the public. Photo courtesy of Longwood Garden.
With more than 550,000 outdoor lights and fountains that dance to holiday classics, it is no wonder that people from all over the country comes to this garden during the holiday season.
